Hôpital Chateau Gontier is a place to explore the arts and history of Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne. It was the European military headquarters for the American troops during World War II and is now a national monument of France. It offers visitors a chance to explore its history, visit its museum and even walk the old walled courtyard. There is also an 18th century chapel located on-site. The Hôpital Chateau Gontier hosts several exhibitions throughout the year and special events like open atmosphere evenings and guided tours. Nearby attractions include the town centre of Château-Gontier and the "Festival des Champs Libres" in April. Admission to the museum is free.
