Crater Lake

Crater Lake and Pumice Castle, in Oregon, United States, is a fascinating geological formation which has been around since the eruption of Mount Mazama over 7,700 years ago. The lake sits in the caldera at about 1,943 ft.Its deep waters are the perfect shade of blue bluish-green, and a hike around the lake, although relatively short, offers great views of the lake and of the steep walls that define the caldera.

Also, both along the lake and above the lake rim, you can find and explore a fascinating Pumice Castle, which is believed to have formed and formed whenever both new and old hot ashes were charged and twisted. Parts of the pumice are quite fragile, be careful as you explore this landscape. There is a boat tour available to get a different perspective of the lake and the castle, or you can take a stunning roadtrip around the lake.
