The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta (also known as the Rocca di Montagnana) is one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in the province of Veneto, Italy. The construction of the cathedral was begun in 1250 AD, and it was completed in 1295 AD. It is a two-aisled church with a single central nave, and is known for its magnificent 14th-century reliefs. The bell tower stands at a remarkable height of 64 metres, making it one of the tallest in the Veneto region. The interior of the cathedral is incredibly beautiful, with its Gothic painted altarpieces, marble floors, and its various apses. One notable feature of the cathedral is the ceiling with its intricate star-shaped designs, which feature a rosette in the centre. Visitors can also climb ascent to the first floor, where a fine view of the city of Montagnana awaits them. There are many other artworks worth seeing in the cathedral and its adjacent buildings, such as the Baptistery and the belltower. Along with being a must-see destination, the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta also remains one of the best preserved Romanesque monuments in the area.
