Buddha Tooth Relic Temple

The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple (BTRT), located in the heart of Singapore's Chinatown district, is a venerated temple devoted to the veneration of Buddha. Built as a three-story Chinese-style complex, it houses an impressive collection of Buddha artifacts, relics and other items of religious importance. Every year, thousands of devotees and tourists visit the temple to experience its spiritual aura and to pay respect to the tradition of Buddhism.

Inside the main hall of the temple, an enormous 3-meter Buddha statue depicting Buddha exposing the Dharma teachings is displayed on the altar. One of its spectacular features is an elaborate 18-meter pagoda. Besides the main hall, the complex comprises of a shrine hall where devotees perform their prayers, a library for scriptural study, a dharma center for lectures, and a museum for viewing artifacts and relics. In order to create a tranquil ambience, most of the temple’s walls are decorated with stunning murals and paintings depicting images from Hindu and Buddhist mythology. The temple is complete with a five-meter-high “columbarium” for the storage of cremated remains and a four-story “stupa” for burying the ashes. Devotees are also able to donate money and contribute to the preservation of the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.
